What it’s made of

Grown, joined, and left to weather.

Each material in the range is made to stand outdoors, and each one ages in its own way.

Plantation teak

Grown for the timber, joined by mortise and tenon. Left outdoors, plantation teak weathers to a soft silver-grey, and the silvering is natural, not a fault. Cleaned and lightly oiled, it comes back to honey brown. Either way the timber underneath is unchanged, and the joint still holds.

Stainless steel & all-weather wicker

Kingsley Bate uses grade 304 stainless steel for its stainless frames and fittings, and powder-coats its aluminium frames. Woven pieces are all-weather wicker worked over a solid frame, and some seating takes a quick-dry sling.

Outdoor-grade foams & fabrics

Cushions are built on quick-dry reticulated foam that sheds water rather than holding it, wrapped in solution-dyed acrylic that keeps its colour in the sun. Fabrics come in graded ranges, your own material is welcome, and swatches are sent before anything is specified.

Care & Refresh

Built to be looked after, not babied.

Teak needs little care: a wash each season, and oil if you want the honey colour back. Worn cushions can be re-covered in current or new fabrics, and worn umbrellas can take a replacement canopy; both are quoted on enquiry.

Kingsley Bate cushions are made in the graded fabrics below, and the one you choose on a piece stays with it through your shortlist and workspace schedule. Some pieces also accept customer’s own material (C.O.M.), confirmed per piece at quote.
