Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 August 2026
How we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, structured on the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
01Who we are
Casualife Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 59 638 041 022), trading as Casualife Furniture ("Casualife", "we", "us", "our"), is an outdoor furniture importer and retailer based in Victoria, Australia, trading from a showroom in St Kilda and a warehouse in Hallam. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in connection with this website and our business, and how the Australian Privacy Principles (Schedule 1 to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) apply to us.
02What we collect
We collect personal information you give us directly, including:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number and postal or delivery address
- Project and quote details — what you are enquiring about, room or venue information, dimensions, and fabric or finish preferences
- Account details — the information you give us to sign in or hold an account with us
- Trade-verification details — if you apply for a trade account, your studio or business name, ABN, discipline and state (we may check it against public registers such as the Australian Business Register)
- Correspondence — anything you send us by email, phone or through a form on this site
We also collect limited information automatically from your use of this website — see clause 9 (Cookies & analytics).
03Why we collect it
We use personal information to:
- Prepare quotes and respond to enquiries
- Process, fulfil and deliver orders
- Provide account and trade-portal services
- Send you service messages about an order, quote or account you hold with us
- Where, and only where, you have expressly opted in — send you marketing communications and our newsletter
We do not use your personal information for a purpose you would not reasonably expect.
04Consent
Creating an account with us requires your consent to our Terms & Conditions and to this Privacy Policy.
Signing up to our newsletter or marketing communications is always an express opt-in — we do not add you without your action — and every marketing message we send carries a working unsubscribe link, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can withdraw your consent to marketing at any time; this does not affect service messages about an order, quote or account you already hold with us.
05Disclosure
We disclose personal information where it is necessary to do what you have asked us to do, including to:
- Our manufacturing and freight partners — including overseas suppliers in Indonesia, Spain, Italy and Portugal — to manufacture, prepare and ship your order
- Service providers who host this website, manage our database, or otherwise process information on our behalf
- A professional adviser, regulator or authority where we are required to by law
Some of the organisations we disclose information to are overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure an overseas recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but an overseas recipient may not always be subject to the same privacy laws as apply in Australia. We do not sell your personal information.
06Storage & security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information you give us through this website is held on hosted infrastructure operated by our service providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep our systems and processes appropriate to the information they hold.
07Access & correction
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details in clause 11 — we will respond within a reasonable time, and tell you if we cannot make a change you have asked for, and why.
08Retention
We keep personal information for as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose we collected it — including to fulfil an order, meet a legal or tax obligation, or resolve a dispute — and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
09Cookies & analytics
This website does not use cookies, and does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Some features store information locally in your own browser, on your device only — for example, your shortlist of favourites, your project planner or trade-portal working set, and draft form entries — so that they are there when you come back. Submitting a form on this site sends what you typed to us and also gives you a reference code to quote when you contact us by phone or email; information you have not submitted — a shortlist, a draft — stays on your device only.
This site counts product-page views in aggregate — which pieces are viewed, and how often, by day — so we can improve the range we show. The count carries no identifier: no cookie, no account link, nothing tied to you or your device. If we ever collect more than this, we will update this policy first.
10Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first using the details in clause 11 — we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
11Contact
For any question about this policy, or to exercise a right described in it, contact us at marilla@casualife.com.au.
12Updates
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our business or the law. The version published on this page, dated above, is always the current one.
This policy works alongside our Terms & Conditions.
