CARAVITA
Umbrellas, shade sails and parasol bases.
The house
Four ways to hold a canopy up
Umbrellas, shade sails and parasol bases. The core umbrellas — Samara, Supremo, Centro and Grande — are built around a centre post, opened by crank or a balanced sliding mechanism and closed telescopically. Amalfi and Scala move the post aside: both are catalogued as cantilever parasols, their poles standing laterally rather than through the canopy’s centre. Summerday and All Season leave the mast out altogether — tensioned sail canopies stretched between corner and edge posts, All Season’s corners drawn tight on a three-way turnbuckle and 6mm stainless steel cable. Multicube, by contrast, is not an umbrella at all: a mobile, wood-topped gabion base sized to carry the house’s larger canopies.
The house’s own catalogue colophon registers CARAVITA in Gaimersheim, Germany.

Scale, fabric and ballast
Wind, honestly
Big Ben is the one model in the range with a printed wind figure: wind-tunnel tested by structural engineers, the 3×3 m version is rated stable to 100 km/h. No other Caravita model in this index carries a printed wind rating, so none is stated for them here.
Grande’s scale
Grande is the largest umbrella in the house: up to 8×8 m square, 6×8 m rectangular, or Ø10 m round — the round option shading 79 m², the largest single figure the catalogue prints for any model.
Six named fabric ranges
Canopy fabric is specified by name rather than generic material: Acrylic fabric (100% acrylic, water-resistant to a 300–370mm water column, with an “All Weather” variant to 1000mm), LUMERA acrylic fabric, Tentmesh (an HDPE net reducing UV by 91–98%), Ferrari Precontraint 302 (a flame-resistant PVC-coated polyester mesh), ProNature acrylic fabric, and TempotestStar FR (100% polyester, flame class B1).
Nineteen named bases
Ballast is tabulated rather than improvised: nineteen named bases running from the 42kg Oslo plate to the 450kg steel plate Caravita specifies for Grande alone, plus a family of ground sleeves for a permanent, in-ground fixing.
Custom
Built to the site, not just the order
Big Ben Freestyle is custom-made to the site’s own shape, up to 7 m along one side and 36 m² in area, provided the shorter side is at least half the longer one. Amalfi’s wall-installation pole is produced to order against the wall’s own dimensions — wall height and crank height included, not just picked from a size chart.
Every umbrella in the range is ordered through the same printed configurator: model, shape, size, fabric colour, frame colour, valance and accessories. Logos print in up to four colours by screen printing, and commercial printing is available across the canopy and valance fabric itself.
For a custom brief on shape, fabric or branding, Casualife carries this conversation forward directly.
Provenance
This index is drawn from Caravita’s own printed catalogue, read piece by piece. Piece and collection counts above are computed at build time from the indexed catalogue, not maintained by hand, and will move if the index does.
