Prized for its simplistic Craftsman style and exceptional comfort, it has become one of the most iconic and popular outdoor seating items. Cushion thickness is deck arithmetic, not a style choice: the maker builds the bare frame deck low or high knowing what will sit on it, and the cushion is the remainder to a comfortable finished seat. That is why a dining pad runs thin and deep seating runs thick — neither is an upgrade on the other.

- 10–13 cm, seat and back — the frame deck is built low on purpose — the cushion, not the frame, sets the finished seat height.

- Exposed pieces take an open-cell, fast-draining (reticulated) core: water passes straight through instead of pooling in the foam. A crowned profile sheds standing water by geometry. Neither makes a cushion waterproof — outdoor builds drain, they do not seal.
- Fabric
- Outdoor cloth earns its keep in the fibre. Solution-dyed yarn carries its pigment all the way through the fibre, so colour survives sun and scrubbing; surface-dyed cloth wears its colour off. Performance fabrics are water-resistant rather than waterproof, and mildew grows on dirt sitting on the cloth, not in the fibre itself — which is why the published care is washing, drying and standing a soaked cushion on edge to drain.

- Fabrics and patterns are fully specifiable — plains, stripes and prints, with repeat, direction and railroading captured in the brief so a pattern lands straight on every panel. This piece is marked C.O.M. — send your own fabric and the cushions are specified to it.

Cushions are sized to the frame, and the maker’s own care page says it plainly: stand a soaked cushion on edge and let it drain.

- Weathering
- Teak is impervious to sun, rain and snow and is suited to salt-air positions. Left untreated it moves through honey to a silver grey over roughly a year. Treated, it holds its golden brown.
- Cleaning
- To bring the original colour back, use a teak cleaner — about thirty minutes for a bench. To clean without lifting the grey, soap and water is enough. Apply protector after cleaning to hold the golden brown, and reapply seasonally. A new piece needs no cleaner.
- Indoors
- Solid teak reads well indoors; oil or wax it when it is used inside.
- Care products
- Teak Cleaner (TC01B, TC01CS) · Teak Protector (TC02B, TC02CS, TC02A, TC02CL) · Teak Shield (TC04B, TC04CS). Protector is applied once or twice a year; shield two to three times a year.
- Assembly
- Most pieces ship knocked down in cartons and assemble in about fifteen minutes.
- Covers
- Fitted covers are made in solution-dyed polyester, colourfast to 1,000 hours of sunlight, with a water-resistant backing and buckles that stop water pooling.
