Fabric images are not to scale and colour reads differently on every screen — order a physical sample before specifying. Swatches and grades are the maker’s own, read from Kingsley Bate (manufacturer) (2026-07-31) and Kingsley Bate Australia (Casualife microsite) (2026-07-25).
Cushion thickness is deck arithmetic, not a style choice: the maker builds the bare frame deck low or high knowing what will sit on it, and the cushion is the remainder to a comfortable finished seat. That is why a dining pad runs thin and deep seating runs thick — neither is an upgrade on the other.
- For a sunloungers or daybed
- 8–12 cm, hinged — the pad follows the adjustable back, and an open-cell fast-draining core is the default — this is the most weather-exposed typology in the range.
- Core
- Exposed pieces take an open-cell, fast-draining (reticulated) core: water passes straight through instead of pooling in the foam. A crowned profile sheds standing water by geometry. Neither makes a cushion waterproof — outdoor builds drain, they do not seal.
- Fabric
- Outdoor cloth earns its keep in the fibre. Solution-dyed yarn carries its pigment all the way through the fibre, so colour survives sun and scrubbing; surface-dyed cloth wears its colour off. Performance fabrics are water-resistant rather than waterproof, and mildew grows on dirt sitting on the cloth, not in the fibre itself — which is why the published care is washing, drying and standing a soaked cushion on edge to drain.
- Patterns & your own fabric
- Fabrics and patterns are fully specifiable — plains, stripes and prints, with repeat, direction and railroading captured in the brief so a pattern lands straight on every panel. Many pieces also accept customer’s own material (C.O.M.) — the brief asks rather than assumes.
The maker’s cushion grammar
Commission custom cushionsKingsley Bate specifies a cushion in three published steps — the piece, the fabric grade, the edge style — across four edge styles and two fabric tiers (Standard and High-Performance). Cushions are sized to the frame, and the maker’s own care page says it plainly: stand a soaked cushion on edge and let it drain.

- Stainless steel
- High-grade 304 stainless. Salt air can discolour it, so it is not recommended within ten miles of the ocean; keep it out of direct contact with chlorinated pool water, and clean it about once a year with a non-abrasive stainless cleaner.
- Electropolishing
- Stainless destined for chlorinated pool water, or for a position within ten miles of the ocean, can be ordered electropolished for added resistance to discolouration and corrosion — a mirror surface rather than the brushed untreated one. Special order, with additional lead time; routine maintenance still applies. Not recommended around indoor chlorinated pools, and not offered on the Boca collection.

- Premium powder-coated aluminium, suited to poolside and salt air.
- Care products
- Stainless Steel Anti-Corrosion Wax (SS01B, SS01CS), applied once or twice a year.
- Sling surfaces
- Sling seats and backs are a vinyl-coated polyester textile — durable, fade-resistant and easy to keep. Specify the sling colour when ordering.
- Covers
- Fitted covers are made in solution-dyed polyester, colourfast to 1,000 hours of sunlight, with a water-resistant backing and buckles that stop water pooling.
