sofas · SKU SA60
Savannah updates a mid-century rattan classic, balanced between casual and formal. An antiqued rustproof aluminium frame takes the place of rattan cane and is hand-woven with all-weather wicker in a traditional pattern, with cushions in performance fabrics over draining foam. The coffee and side tables have clear tempered glass tops.

Full specification
- Fabric
- A superbly updated mid-Century rattan seating classic, Savannah preserves a balance between casual & formal design. Frames are moved to the current era, now in antiqued rust-proof aluminium frame so it looks like genuine rattan yet performs in a fully exposed, or porch setting. The frame is then handwoven with all-weather wicker in a classic artisanal pattern, with spirographical & pleasingly rhythmical precision. Atop is a cushion of technical performance textiles, providing care free luxury for indoors or out. Perfect for an afternoon card game or tea party with friends in the sun room, on the porch or under a vine clad trellis perhaps.

The Savannah collection
Aluminium and all-weather wicker. 5 pieces in this collection.
Most Kingsley Bate pieces are teak, so they are chosen by material rather than by colourway. The timber is specified by how it will be allowed to weather, not by a paint code.

Cushion thickness follows the frame: each frame’s seat is built low or high for the cushion it is designed to carry. A dining pad is therefore thin and deep seating thick, and neither is an upgrade on the other.
- For a sofas or settee
- 10–15 cm seat · 12–15 cm back — always separate cushions rather than one slab, so each panel drains and turns on its own.
- Core
- Cushions for exposed pieces have an open-cell, fast-draining (reticulated) foam core, so water runs straight through rather than pooling in the foam. A crowned top sheds standing water. Neither makes a cushion waterproof: outdoor cushions are built to drain.
- Fabric
- In outdoor fabric, what matters is the fibre. Solution-dyed yarn carries its colour all the way through, so it holds up to sun and scrubbing; surface-dyed cloth loses its colour as it wears. Performance fabrics resist water but are not waterproof. Mildew grows on dirt left on the cloth rather than in the fibre. The usual care advice is to wash and dry the cloth, and to stand a soaked cushion on its edge to drain.
- Patterns & your own fabric
- Plains, stripes and prints can all be specified. The brief records the repeat, the direction and any railroading, so the pattern lines up on every panel. Many pieces also accept customer’s own material (C.O.M.); the brief asks whether you will supply your own.
The maker’s cushion grammar
Commission custom cushionsA Kingsley Bate cushion is ordered in three steps: the piece, the fabric grade and the edge style. There are four edge styles and two fabric tiers, Standard and High-Performance. Each cushion is sized to its frame, and the maker’s care advice is to stand a soaked cushion on its edge to drain.
Made to order through our supplier workshops: sized to this frame, in your chosen fabric, from a thin dining pad to full deep-seating cushions.
Technical sheet issued on request, per piece.
Each sheet is issued against the maker’s current revision, so the drawing you receive matches the piece that will be built.
